Maureen Denise McCormick was born on 5 August 1956 at Woodland Hills California the youngest and sole daughter of Richard McCormick and Irene McCormick. Her father worked as an educator at school while her mother was an at-home mom. There are three brothers older than her: Michael Dennis and Kevin. At a young age, McCormick was a singer and dance and would often present puppet shows to youngsters in the area. Her rise to fame as a fairytale began when she took home her first Baby Miss San Fernando Valley contest at the age of 6 which led to an inquiry from an agent for talent Pat Domigan of the Jack Wormser Agency who inquired if she'd like to enter the show industry. McCormick got her first big task in 1964 when she starred in a commercial on television for Mattels latest doll, Baby Pattaburp. The following year she appeared in another commercial for Mattels Chatty Cathy doll and was soon cast in the play The Wind It up until It Breaks in the La Jolla Playhouse. The Brady Bunch McCormick's audition was among 1200 other children who auditioned for the role of the eldest daughter to be a part of The Brady Bunch. The sitcom starred Florence Henderson and Robert Reed who were newlyweds with a blended-family. The show ran for five seasons and the show was a successful one. McCormick disclosed her story in Heres the Story. Surviving Marcia Brady, and Finding My True Voice (published in 2008) that McCormick almost lost her virginity in the hands of Barry Williams during the five-year period of the show. In the moment, she was 16, and he was 19. The timing would not have worked for us, she told me.
